  • Parent-involved Co-ops

    These co-ops require parents to be present during meetings and might require some level of parent involvement.

    Root and Arrow - located in Holy Hill. This is a parent involved co-op that meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. They have activities for children under 15 years old and offer a variety of extracurricular classes.

    The Village Co-op - located in Summerville. They meet on Wednesday’s at Wescott park. This is a parent led enrichment co-op for ages 6 and up.

    Koinonia Christian Homeschool Co-op - located in North Charleston. This is a Christian co-op that meets once a week. They offer classical/Charlotte Mason style electives to enrich your homeschool.

    Outdoor Homeschoolers of the Lowcountry - Group that meets in nature around the Lowcountry (Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston counties) twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They are a secular, forest school inspired group. Visit their Facebook page here.

    Wild & Free Charleston - located on James Island. They would love to have families with 4-8 year olds (and younger siblings) join them on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 12:30 for free play immersed in nature, field trips, and shared learning experiences!     Charleston H.I.N.T. - meeting locations rotate around the lowcountry every month. They meet on Tuesday mornings. Mixed ages (requires one child 5+ per family). Parents involved in facilitating activities. This is a secular group.

    Cottageville Co-op - located in Cottageville at Cottageville Park. Meets on Tuesdays from 10-12pm. Elementary ages welcome. Parent involved. This is a secular group.

    Charleston Area Nature Co-op - A nature-based outdoor learning and enrichment program for homeschoolers. Meeting on Tuesdays in North Charleston and on Thursdays they will be rotating around the Charleston area. This is a secular co-op.

    Little GLOW and GLOWing up co-op - located at various parks around the area. Meets at 10am on Wednesdays. Fall session runs from Sept 10 - Nov 19. Little Glow is ages 3-7. Glowing up is ages 7-10. $5 per family.

  • Drop off Co-ops

    Drop off co-ops offer classes led by paid or volunteer teachers, usually in a class setting 1-2 days a week. They usually offer pay-per-class so you can pick and choose the best options for your child. Classes are typically electives but some offer core classes as well.

    Sheep - located in Summerville and Goose Creek. This is a christian drop-off co-op that meets on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays (class dependent) in Summerville and Fridays in Goose Creek. They offer a variety of classes from core classes to extracurricular. They also offer intermediate and high school musical theatre classes on Fridays at Northwoods Baptist Church.     Kairos Christian Academy - located in West Ashley. Homeschool Co-op for grades 1-12. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays with classes ranging from core classes to extracurricular. This is a christian co-op.

    Lowcountry Christian Co-op - located in West Ashley. This is a christian drop-off co-op that meets on Mondays. They offer a variety of classes from core classes to extracurricular.

    Oak & Sparrow Learning Lab - located in Goose Creek. This co-op is affiliated with At Home in the Lowcountry homeschool association. They offer enrichment classes and clubs. Classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    Heart Beatz Preschool Enrichment - locations on both James and Johns Island. Heart Beatz provides classes from 9am-1pm and 1 to 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday) for ages 2-5 years old.

    Carolina Kid’s Co-op - with locations in North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, and Johns Island (Growing Spirit). Each location meets on different days, multiple days a week. They offer a wide range of classes for pre K - high school. This is a secular, outdoor co-op.

    Creekside Homeschool ​Enrichment - located on James Island. This is a drop off program for ages 5-7 offered by Little Palms Play Garden. They meet on Wednesday’s from 9am-12pm. This is a nature based, secular program.

    GLOW Enrichment program - located in Downtown Charleston and Park Circle. Open to GLOW event members, $15/yr to join. They meet on Thursday’s from 10-1:30. Classes for ages 7-14. This is a secular co-op.

    Kids Garden - located in Summerville. Kids Garden offers daily programs from 1:30-3:30 (with option of 5:30 extension). Drop in and packages available. Every day offers a different theme focusing on creativity.

    Discovery Zone Homeschool Enrichment Center - located in Moncks Corner. Meeting every Wednesday from 9am -2pm for ages 5-13. Focusing on fun and creativity.

    Dorchester County Parks Homeschool Enrichment Co-op - located in Summerville at Ashley River Park. The group meets every Friday for 8 week terms from 10am-2pm. They focus on nature and STEM based activities. This co-op is secular.

    Outdoor Explorers @ The Ponds YMCA - located in Knightsville. 8 week drop off program that includes PE, gardening, animal study, exploring outdoors, animal tracking, storytelling, nature skills, crafts, and more. Meets on Monday and Wednesday from 10am-2pm. Contact for the program is molly.bryant@summervilleymca.org.

    Seaside Kids Collective - located at various parks around Charleston. This is an outdoor social group that meets in nature to learn together. They meet on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month; Wednesday & Thursday weekly from 9:15am - 12:30pm. Ages 2-8. This is a drop off program.

  • Hybrid Co-op Programs

    Hybrid options allow your child to be taught 2+ days week in a school like setting and then assigned work is sent home for the child to complete. These include core subjects and some electives.

    Highlands Latin Cottage School - Located in Summerville. This is a christian drop-off cottage school that meets on Tuesdays for 4K - 9th grades. They teach using the classical method and Memoria Press Curriculum.

    Highlands Latin School Charleston - This is a christian drop-off cottage school that meets on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. K - 12th grades. They teach using the classical method and Memoria Press Curriculum.

    Veritas - located in Mount Pleasant and West Ashley. This is a christian drop-off co-op that meets one day a week as a compliment to your homeschool.

    Hart Academy - located on James Island. This is a christian cottage school for kindergarten - 5th grade. They offer one to four day options that meet from 9am-3pm.

    Classical Conversations - multiple locations throughout the lowcountry. They offer a christian classical approach to learning among like minded families. Parents are required to stay and participate with students.

    Holy City Academy - located in North Charleston. HCA is a hybrid school, homeschool co-op. They offer instruction in the core subjects of language arts, math, science, and history for grades pre K - 5th grade. HCA uses The Good and Beautiful as their core curriculum. They meet Tues-Thurs from 8:45-11:45. This is a christian based program.

    Discipled Youth Academy - located in Summerville. They offer classes for 1st-12th grade. Classes held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They offer core classes as well as electives. Christian based program.

    Classical Christian Collaborative - located on Sullivan’s Island. Classes are offered Tuesday - Thursday from 9-2pm for middle and high school students. This is a christian program. Contact Sherri Clark at 615-400-5437 for more information.

    Summerville Homeschool Co-op - located in Summerville. Ages 4-6. Starts in August. Perfect for busy families who don’t have the ability to homeschool full time.

    Heart 2 Homeschool Cooperative - located in North Mt. Pleasant. They meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-2pm. Teaching elementary ages with a classical/Charlotte Mason style. This is a christian co-op.

    Picking Up The Pieces Enrichment Center - located on James Island. Homeschool enrichment program for ages 4+. Monday - Thursday from 8am - 1pm.

  • Micro-Schools

    Micro-schools offer full instruction for students in small classroom settings. Usually multiple grade levels are taught together.

    A Home For School - located in Moncks Corner. This is a half day learning pod that meets 3 days a week as well as STEM classes on Wednesday. They offer classes for K - 7th grade. Mrs. Spann also offers other educational resources on her website, including learning kits and homeschool consultations/lesson planning..

    The Success Center - located in Goose Creek. The Success Center offers tutoring services, as well as a micro-school for pre-k through 12th grade. The Success Center is christian based.

    Nurturing Wonders - located in Cane Bay. This is a nature based early-childhood program. They offer multiple half-day schedule options. Nurturing Wonders is a one room school house for ages 3-12 years old.

    Greater Things Learning Center - located in Summerville (Old Fort Baptist Chruch). This is a christian based homeschool hub. 1st - 6th grade students homeschool curriculum will be reinforced while they participate in project-based learning for science and math, take daily field trips, and rigorously work on reading, writing, and math. 3, 4, or 5 days a week from 7:30-2:30.

    Rambling Roots Academy - located in Moncks Corner. This is a half-day kindergarten program focused on Montessori, farm, and play based learning. Ages 3-7.

University Homeschools

Hope Scholars Academy - located in North Charleston. Hope Scholars Academy is a high school Christian program. They offer classroom learning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30am-3:20pm with work at home days on Tuesdays and Fridays.

University School of the Lowcountry - located in Mt. Pleasant. They offer classes for grades 3rd-12th. Following a rigorous curriculum but focusing on building relationships and so learning outside the classroom.
